WebTech Wireless Inc.: NextBus® Provides Fort Worth Transit Users with the First Public Real-Time Passenger Information System in Texas

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 6, 2011) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services and telematics technology, today announced that it has received a four-year contract from the Fort Worth Transportation Authority ("The T") to implement its NextBus Real-Time Passenger Information System (RTPIS) on an "Enhanced Bus Route" along the East Lancaster Ave. corridor from downtown Fort Worth to the Handley Historic District.

The route, featuring enhanced express services, will use nine dedicated buses equipped with NextBus GPS units, plus 17 NextBus LED signs installed at selected high-volume bus stops. NextBus will also implement its Telephone Information System to provide Fort Worth transit users with bus arrival information in English, Spanish or French. In addition to providing real-time arrivals information to riders, The T will rely on NextBus' full suite of management and reporting tools, including schedule adherence and headway reports and real-time status monitoring, in order to increase The T's productivity. Implementation should be completed within five months.

"This is yet another first for NextBus, as while we currently have three installations in Texas – Texas State University, the University of Houston, and the Arlington Entertainment District – this is the first deployment of real-time passenger information by any vendor in the Texas public transit sector," said Scott Edmonds, Webtech Wireless' President and CEO. "Once again, we are demonstrating that NextBus is the ideal high-value, customizable solution for both large and small private and public transit agencies."

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority provides public transportation to Tarrant County and the North Central Texas region. It operates a fleet of approximately 200 buses and vans, which accounted for 7.4 million passenger trips in 2009. For more information visit: the-t.com.

About Next Bus®

NextBus Real-Time Passenger Information System (RTPIS) patented technology predicts transit vehicle arrival times in real-time based upon a vehicle's current GPS location, and provides this information to transit users via electronic digital signs, mobile phones, internet-enabled computers, or NextBus' automated telephone information system, accessible from any phone. Users can also sign up to receive automatic email or text alert messages (sent minutes before their bus, streetcar or train is predicted to arrive), allowing them to be at their stop just-in-time and reduce waiting. NextBus also provides transit authorities with numerous fleet management tools designed to improve operating efficiency, enhance service, and meet government reporting requirements.
