WebTech Wireless' NextBus® Intelligent Transportation System Sold to Conseil Intermunicipal de Transport Laurentides

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 10, 2011) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, announces a contract award for its NextBus® intelligent transportation system (ITS) with the Conseil Intermunicipal de Transport Laurentides (CITL), which provides intra-urban bus services to several communities near Montreal, Quebec. The first phase of the project has already commenced.

The NextBus ITS solution will provide CITL, and its four contractors, with fleet management tools to oversee and manage its daily operations, such as real-time schedule adherence, passenger counts, and live headway information. It will also provide NextBus real-time passenger information services (RTPIS) bus arrival information to CITL riders. This information can be readily shared with other transit agencies in the greater Montreal area, further enhancing the usability of regional transit services.

"We're pleased to have CITL join our growing family of Montreal area NextBus customers, which includes Société de Transport de Laval. The proven reliability of the information NextBus provides passengers (RTPIS) is a critical component in a transit agency's decision to purchase the NextBus system, but increasingly we're seeing that cost effectiveness and ease of implementation are also significant. These factors go a long way in explaining why over ninety transit operations, including five of the top 10 largest transit authorities in the US and Canada, have chosen NextBus over its competitors," said Scott Edmonds, President and CEO of WebTech Wireless.

Operating northwest of Montreal, CITL is the largest of 12 regional transport councils serving the greater Montreal area. Its 90 buses deliver services through a 40-route network, and generate over 4.9 million passenger trips annually.

This latest NextBus sale underscores WebTech Wireless' commitment to meeting the needs of transit agencies of all types and sizes.

About NextBus®

NextBus (RTPIS) patented technology predicts transit vehicle arrival times in real-time based upon a vehicle's current GPS location, and provides this information to transit users via electronic digital signs, mobile phones, internet-enabled computers, or NextBus' automated telephone information system, accessible from any phone. Users can also sign up to receive automatic email or text alert messages (sent minutes before their bus, streetcar or train is predicted to arrive), allowing them to be at their stop just-in-time and reduce waiting. NextBus also provides transit authorities with numerous fleet management tools designed to improve operating efficiency, enhance service, and meet government reporting requirements.
