WebTech Wireless® Renews Quadrant® Enterprise License with Hawaii Electric Light Company

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 7, 2011) - WebTech Wireless Inc. (TSX:WEW), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services and telematics technology, announces that the Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) has renewed its Quadrant® Enterprise service contract for an additional two years. Under the renewal, HELCO intends to continue equipping its vehicle fleet with Quadrant Locators, including the introduction of Job Management functionality using fully integrated Garmin® in-vehicle navigation devices.

Within the first two years of deploying Quadrant (2008-2009), HELCO realized a fuel savings of over 22,000 gallons (US), and in 2010, HELCO saved an additional 18,000 gallons. These results were a deciding factor leading to the renewal of the contract. Kelvin Kohatsu, HELCO's Fleet Administrator, attributes the impressive reduction in fuel use and subsequent cost savings to a combination of "GPS technology, driver training and operator knowledge, more fuel efficient vehicles, and improved dispatch management."

Currently 220 of HELCO's 240 vehicles are equipped with Quadrant Locators. Job Management functionality will enable HELCO to improve communications with their operators in the field, contributing to greater operational efficiency, enhanced customer service, and even greater cost savings over time.

"We're very pleased that HELCO has not only decided to renew its Quadrant Enterprise licence, but also expand its implementation and functionality with Job Management. We look forward to working with them as they roll this out across their fleet," said Scott Edmonds, President and Chief Executive Officer, WebTech Wireless. Adding, "HELCO is just one of several electric utilities that have experienced very positive results in cost reduction, safety and enhanced customer service through the use of Quadrant."

HELCO provides electric power to approximately 148,000 residents of the island of Hawaii. It is a division of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., a private utility that supplies electricity to 95% of the State of Hawaii through three island divisions.
