Wedbush Securities' Sheri Kaiserman Receives "Achievement in Innovation" Award at Markets Media's Second Annual Markets Choice Awards: Women in Finance

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - December 08, 2016) - Wedbush Securities is pleased to announce that Head of Advanced Securities, Sheri Kaiserman has received the "Achievement in Innovation Award" at Markets Media's Markets Choice Awards: Women in Finance. The second annual awards ceremony took place at a luncheon held at Tao Downtown in New York on Tuesday, November 15 and recognized the best-of-the-best across the institutional buy-side and sell-side: exchanges, sell-side trading desks, institutional asset owners, investment managers, and technology providers. The awards are determined by Market Media's editorial team, who identify the best candidates though interviews with senior market participants who are colleagues, customers and competitors, as well as, through the online submissions process. From there, the Women in Finance Advisory Board winnows the field and conducts final internal deliberations before winners are selected.

Sheri built and ran the equities business for 16 years, always with an eye toward being innovative. Wedbush Securities was one of the first Wall Street firms to conduct the one-on-one conference format. When pure data driven research grew in importance in the mid 2000's, Wedbush became one of the first research firms to offer a data driven product by creating its Consumer Specialist Group. To this day, this Group remains the underpinnings of the firm's specialty retail research. Under Sheri's leadership, Wedbush was one of the first Wall Street firms to embrace research and trading in shares of private companies and was the first to publish research on the subject of bitcoin and blockchain, an important technology in which Wedbush has established itself as thought leader.

"From the first day I met Gary Wedbush, he encouraged me to think out of the box," states Ms. Kaiserman. "I credit him for pushing me to not be afraid to explore things that were not traditional and common place on Wall Street."

"Sheri's favorite questions are 'why?' and 'why not?'" stated Gary Wedbush, Executive Vice President and Head of Capital Markets. "She is a natural born creator, and has been a driver of innovation at Wedbush for the past decade. I look forward to Sheri's future innovations and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition."
