BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Dec 18, 2013) - WeFi, an innovator of mobile broadband technology solutions that ensure a superior quality of experience (QoE) for mobile subscribers, announced that it was granted two new patents for strategic components of the company's portfolio of mobile broadband technology solutions for network access classification and connection based on historical performance. The company also announced the expansion of its leadership team with the addition of seasoned executives to accelerate sales and new product development. Arie Shaham, Vice President of Research and Development, and Stephen Becker, Vice President of Business Development, will report to WeFi CEO, Zur Feldman. Erik Hanssen, Vice President of Americas, Sales, will report to Patrick Guay, Vice President of Global Sales. These milestones are instrumental in the company's mission to solve the problem of wireless network congestion and improve the mobile user experience.
New Patents Fortify WeFi's Leadership in Wi-Fi and Cellular Integration
WeFi's patented solutions enable service providers and operators to make the best decisions related to the user experience and ensure the best mobile broadband experience is delivered every time. These combined solutions deliver a superior quality of experience for users while also protecting business goals for carriers and operators. In 2007, WeFi was awarded two patents that solved the current strains of the wireless ecosystem. These patents are solutions to the specific problem operators face today in struggling to provide constant connectivity with limited resources available to do so.
The new patents that have been issued to WeFi describe the method of leveraging the company's analytics to discover hotspots (not necessarily public) that users can connect to -- for example, a friend's place or a favorite store. Once WeFi's analytics discover this hotspot, the company's software can recommend that the user obtain a password and connect to the network.
These fifth and sixth patents issued to WeFi are titled as follows:
- Title: "System and Method of Automatically Connecting a Mobile Communication Device to a Network using a Communications Resource Database." This application is directed to classifying network access points.
- Title: "Dynamic Network Connection System and Method." This application is directed to selecting a network access point for establishing a connection based on historical performance.
"We're proud of the groundbreaking technology innovations we are rapidly commercializing and look forward to ongoing growth of our patent portfolio. We will continue to set the standard for quality of experience while delivering value to service providers, operators and users alike," said Zur Feldman, Chairman and CEO of WeFi.
