JOHNS CREEK, GA--(Marketwired - Apr 4, 2013) - Wegener Corporation (PINKSHEETS: WGNR), a provider of equipment for digital signage, television, audio, and data distribution networks worldwide, and Dial Global, America's largest independent provider and distributor of audio content, today announced the joint development of a system that provides real-time verification of over-the-air content playback via affiliated stations using Wegener's store forward radio network media player.
AM/FM Radio tuners in Dial Global/WEGENER store-forward media players 'listen' to the programming being transmitted by the radio station. An advanced software application developed by WEGENER for Dial Global compares the transmitted programming to what was played by the media player, verifying that what the station intended to play is what actually went to air.
"We are proud to continue to work with our long-standing radio industry partner to develop and deploy this ground-breaking radio application," stated Troy Woodbury, President and CEO of Wegener Corporation. "This is a further example of the power of Compel, our network management and control system. Compel assures that media is delivered to the right place, at the right time -- and verified."
"WEGENER has continued to advance the capabilities of the delivery platform on a regular basis, providing Dial Global with the Gold Standard of network programming delivery," stated Conrad Trautmann, Chief Technology Officer for Dial Global Radio Networks.
"WEGENER and Dial Global have enjoyed a collaborative relationship that continues to provide the best possible programming and features to our affiliates, advertisers and partners," added Eric Wiler, Dial Global's Senior Vice President of Broadcast Engineering and Operations. "Instead of creating a product operating with a fixed feature set, we have been able to enhance and add many groundbreaking features several years after deployment," added Wiler.
