Weidenhammer's Network Infrastructure Services Team Makes Major Contribution to Expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center

READING, PA--(Marketwire - Mar 7, 2012) - Weidenhammer Systems Corporation (Weidenhammer), a provider of leading-edge information technology solutions for the commercial and education marketplace, recently assisted in the completion of the technology portion of the newly renovated Pennsylvania Convention Center located in center city Philadelphia.

Weidenhammer's Network Infrastructure Services team was a proud contributor in what amounted to the largest single public works project in Pennsylvania history. Along with integrating previous convention center technology, Weidenhammer was responsible for the enhanced networking functionality and technical capabilities of the Expansion Project. The design called for sophisticated upgrades to the CORE switching architecture including increased throughput and extensive redundancy, the expansion of 100 wireless access points to the Convention Center's wireless services, the addition of 98 Digital Media players to keep attendees informed on meeting agendas, speakers and announcements, and the implementation of a state-of-the-art phone system throughout the expansion area.

Weidenhammer's knowledge of Convention Center procedures and practices enabled the full integration of existing technology with new technology deployment. By establishing the network backbone, Weidenhammer's participation laid the foundation for the rest of the facility's building services -- security cameras, automated door locks, audio visual equipment, air handling units, elevators, lighting, back-up power -- all of which used the network to communicate and send operational signals to the Convention Center's command center.

With this latest expansion, the PA Convention Center now covers 11 city blocks, can accommodate two major conventions at one time, boasts the largest ballroom on the East Coast and provides convention planners over 1,000,000 square feet of usable space. The PA convention center is now a facility that totals 2.3 million square feet. The expanded facility will bring $150,000,000 in revenue to the Region, $10,000,000 in increased taxes and 2,000 hospitality jobs.
