Welcome Hall Mission/Back to School With Heads Held High - A Real Success

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 23, 2007) - On the 23rd of August 2007 we held the opening ceremony of our annual "Heads Held High" Back to School event where for the past 7 years Welcome Hall Mission has given away school supplies.

The honored guest for the opening ceremony of the distribution; which will be held over two days, August 23 and 24, 2007; was Mrs. Jacqueline Montpetit, the Mayor of the South West borough, also present were Mrs. Lisette Lapointe, Deputy of Cremazie and spokesperson for Employment and Social Affairs of the Parti-Quebecois, Mr. Gerald Morel, School Commissioner for Saint-Henri-Petit-Bourgogne, Mr. Daniel Belanger, School Commissioner for Cote-Saint-Paul-Ville-Emard, Mr. Richard Helie Executive Director of Para-Public and Public Markets of TELUS as well as Mr. Marc Bourassa, Executive Director of Probec.

During the address to the nearly 500 people present for this occasion at 8:30 a.m, Mrs. Jacqueline Montpetit confirmed her support and complete satisfaction regarding the steps taken by Welcome Hall Mission against poverty in the South West borough and all of Montreal.

Mrs. Lisette Lapointe supported the actions of Welcome Hall Mission in the fight against poverty and the school dropout phenomenon. Finally, Mr. Richard Helie, confirmed that TELUS would continue to support the efforts of Welcome Hall Mission to achieve its goals in the fight against poverty.

In all, there are 2,000 children who will receive a new school bag filled with school supplies. The school commissioners present were able to happily confirm that the near 62,000 school supplies given out during this event corresponded to the requirements of the Montreal School Commission.
