Well.ca Expanding Fulltime Workforce by 20 per cent

Canadian online retailer is hiring 30 employees to meet growing demand

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 28, 2015) - After a difficult start to 2015 in the retail sector, Well.ca - Canada's online destination for health, beauty, baby and natural products - announces the addition of 30 full time employees to its head office in Guelph, taking the total team to more than 100. This workforce growth is to meet an increased demand in orders from across Canada and to ensure continuation of the excellent level of service and timely shipping which customers have become accustomed to.

Well.ca President and CEO Rebecca McKillican attributes their headcount growth to an increase in sales in 2014 and a strong January performance. After an extremely strong fourth quarter, Well.ca has experienced January sales growth of close to 50% over last year. These numbers support the recent Ipsos Reid survey, which showed more and more Canadians are shopping online, especially for items in beauty, housewares and grocery.

"It has been a rough start to 2015 for the Canadian retail sector, with the exit of large international brands and the declining Canadian Dollar, which is why we are happy to share this news," says McKillican.
