Wellington North to Receive Funding for Cst. Rick Hopkins Bridge Rehabilitation

WELLINGTON NORTH, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 6, 2015) -

Residents of Wellington North will benefit from Cst. Rick Hopkins Bridge Rehabilitation thanks to joint funding from the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Small Communities Fund.

The Cst. Rick Hopkins Bridge located on Highway 6 in the community of Mount Forest will undergo a series of structural improvements including railing, curb, sidewalk and beam replacement, as well as waterproofing and paving. Rehabilitation work will extend the functional lifespan of the bridge, while increasing safety for motorists and pedestrians alike.

The $1-billion Small Communities Fund provides funding for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs. Canada and Ontario will each provide $272 million to support projects in communities across the province with fewer than 100,000 residents. This funding will help address local priorities, supporting job creation and economic growth, thus sustaining a high quality of life in small communities across Ontario for years to come.
