WellTok Acquires Leading Health Incentive Management Company to Set New Performance Standard for Incentive-Driven Population Health Management

Expertise Gained From Developing 4,000 Incentive Programs for Over 2 Million Consumers to Be Integrated Into Leading Health Optimization Platform

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Oct 22, 2013) - WellTok, Inc., the leading Social Health Management company, today announced that it has acquired IncentOne, a pioneer in healthcare incentive design and management. The combined entity creates the industry's most robust Health Optimization Platform for entities that manage population health by matching consumers to personalized activities designed to improve their health and providing the right rewards to motivate positive behaviors. IncentOne's capabilities will be integrated into WellTok's CaféWell suite of product offerings, currently positioned to reach up to 20 million consumers through contracts with leading health plans and health systems.

"Though we're still in the early stages of consumer activation in healthcare, it's clear that every population health manager including health plans, health systems and accountable care organizations (ACOs) will need two foundational capabilities -- consumer engagement and incentive management," said Jeff Margolis, chairman and CEO of WellTok. "With the IncentOne acquisition, we are now able to extend our vision of providing an end-to-end consumer-facing enterprise solution that integrates personalized activities based on a users' health status and interests with a robust incentive management platform. These capabilities, along with our ability to seamlessly plug in best-of-breed solutions from leading application, device and care management programs, create an unrivaled platform that helps build brand affinity, decreases costs and drives improvement in quality measures such as HEDIS and STAR Ratings."

Continued pressures to reduce healthcare costs and implement value-based payment programs have fueled significant movement toward incentive-driven healthcare as a way to promote active consumer participation in health-related activities.

In 2013, updated provisions in the Affordable Care Act increased the maximum reward value for health and wellness programs to 30 percent of an employee's health benefit premium, and up to 50 percent for smoking cessation programs. Equally important is the impressive track record of successful results. IncentOne's clients have seen immediate and sustainable behavior change through the use of rewards including 80 percent mammogram completion, 70 percent BMI completion and 55 percent maternity management program participation.

IncentOne has assembled the largest, most comprehensive data set on how incentives drive behavior change based on nearly 40 million transactions and over 4,000 incentive programs. The data set includes information on activity completion, risk factors, survey data and eligibility/claims information. The information is used to not only predict the completion rate for specific activities such as exercise programs, health risk assessment completion, preventive screening and biometric assessments but also to determine the actions, values and rewards needed to optimize health programs. The database can also inform the design of how incentives should vary based on the complexity and timeframe of a desired action -- immediate (generic drug substitution) vs. longer term (BMI reduction), which is critical for a successful program.

"As a pioneer in incentive driven healthcare, it's been exciting to see how the right use of incentives has become a competitive differentiator for leading organizations looking to optimize population health," said Michael Dermer, founder and CEO of IncentOne. "By combining our proprietary incentive management methodology and reward platform with WellTok's social health management capabilities, we can provide an integrated enterprise solution that allows organizations to drive meaningful action on an individual level."
