Westbrook Technologies Adds Important Features to Its Fortis Enterprise Document Management Software

AutoCAD Integration, CDExpress Are Among Frequently Requested Product Enhancements Now Available in Fortis

BRANFORD, CT--(Marketwire - September 10, 2008) - Westbrook Technologies, developer of Fortis enterprise document management (EDM) software, today announced that it has added several new features and product enhancements to improve Fortis and Fortis SE software capabilities. The enhanced Fortis EDM solution (now 2.4.1) is in direct response to customers with specific business challenges. Fortis now includes enhanced AutoCAD format support, Export to PDF, CDExpress, Fortis for eCopy ShareScan OP and Fortis for Kofax Capture, among others.

To deliver enhanced AutoCAD format support, Westbrook has partnered with SolidWorks Corporation. By integrating with SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer, Westbrook now delivers support for various AutoCAD file formats which now includes:

-- DWG/DXF (all versions up to 2008)
-- eDrawings (eDRW, ePRT, eASM)
-- Native SolidWorks Documents (sldprt, sldasm, slddrw)

With Export to PDF, Fortis customers now have the option to export documents as a PDF file using a PDF/A-1b compliant format. PDF/A-1b is a standard that defines a format for long term archival storage of electronic documents.

CDExpress, a supported option in Fortis 2.4.1, now also uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express instead of MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine).

Other new enhancements are Fortis for eCopy ShareScan OP 4.2, which includes support for the Ricoh MFPs. There are also performance improvements to Fortis for Kofax Capture release script built for Kofax Capture 8. In particular, customers using Oracle 10g should notice a significant increase in import speed.

Additionally, Westbrook has improved the mechanism to authenticate and logon users to its Fortis software. Customers with a large number of users will see faster logons to the Fortis client. The Company also has added a "preferences generator" utility that allows a Fortis administrator to configure Fortis workstation preferences and then save them to an INI file. This is for use specifically with the silent install feature to automate the deployment of Fortis workstations, including preferences.
