Westcon Group Launches MobilityPoint, Enabling Resellers to Capture Mobility Opportunities

With the Mobility Market Expected to Rise by 15% in 2008, MobilityPoint Delivers a Focused Four-Pillar Strategy to Help Resellers Drive End-User Opportunities

TARRYTOWN, NY--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, announced the launch of MobilityPoint, a partner enablement program designed to help resellers capture mobility opportunities within the end-user community. MobilityPoint is the latest addition to Westcon Group's technology focused x-Point programs and will be offered alongside ConvergencePoint, SecurityPoint and CollaborationPoint.

Through MobilityPoint, resellers are able to leverage targeted mobility solutions, each of which is designed to drive end-user value. To that end, Westcon has developed a comprehensive 'four pillar enablement strategy' that provides resellers with the tools to identify and exploit new mobile revenue opportunities. The strategy consists of sales enablement, professional services enablement, business value/solution enablement and execution enablement.

In conjunction with MobilityPoint, Westcon Group provides robust professional services that can add to or augment a reseller's own core competencies in mobility. These services, which include pre- and post-sales support, design, configuration and implementation, can enhance margin opportunities and extend geographic coverage for resellers. Through its unique configuration tool, Westcon Group can also help resellers provide extremely accurate price estimates and configuration specifications.

According to Gartner, "...mobile messaging revenue across major markets will grow 15.7 percent in 2008 to $60.2 billion, up from $52 billion in 2007." Additionally, "2.3 trillion messages will be sent across major markets worldwide in 2008, a 19.6 percent increase from the 2007 total of 1.9 trillion messages."*

"MobilityPoint is truly a groundbreaking program that enables resellers to increase their profitability by providing recognizable business value to the end-user community," said Chris Metaxas, vice president of business development, Westcon Group, Inc. "The program is built on value-driven enablement principles that bring together precisely the right vendor solutions, professional services expertise and market knowledge. Currently, Westcon Group is the only distributor who can help resellers deliver this level of value to end-users."

MobilityPoint's manufacturer participants include many best-of-breed companies in the wireless space including Aruba, Cisco, Hitachi Cable, Nokia, Meru, Motorola, Nortel, Trapeze and many others. The program boasts the same technical infrastructure as Westcon Group's other multi-national, award-winning programs, with built-in single sign-on and advanced social media capabilities.

With MobilityPoint, Westcon provides resellers the ability to leverage the depth of its experience in the convergence, security and traditional networking markets -- each of these areas represents a high-growth opportunity to cross-sell mobility.

Errol Blake, vice president of sales, NetConnect, a New York, NY-based reseller focused on the wireless space, added: "The strength of Westcon's solutions and program framework has put us into the business of mobility. They have helped us realize the true potential at our end user accounts. Also, with Westcon's professional services, they can help me design and implement a complex Voice over Wireless LAN solution that sets me apart from all other resellers".
