Westcon Group's Laurie Usewicz Recognized by Everything Channel's CRN Magazine as One of the Top 100 Women in the Channel

TARRYTOWN, NY--(Marketwire - August 24, 2009) - Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, today announced that Laurie Usewicz, Vice President Security & Licensing Business, has been recognized by Everything Channel's CRN Magazine as one of the Top 100 Women in the Channel. The Top 100 Women in the Channel were chosen by the editors of the magazine based on their achievements as executives and the amount of influence they wield over the technology channel. The Top 100 Women in the Channel represent a changing trend in a traditionally all male industry.

In FY09, Westcon's North American security business grew 21% year over year with Usewicz at the helm. This success is partly attributable to the distributor's innovative reseller programs like SecurityPoint, which provide training, vertical market intelligence and services enablement. Usewicz's team, which focused on growth areas in security including data encryption, reputation security, web security, virtualization security and application delivery, was particularly successful in helping generate end-user demand.

"We are very pleased to see women executives reaching the highest levels in a wide range of dynamic companies. It is with great pleasure that we honor the women that have made a profound impact in the technology marketplace. We offer our congratulations to Laurie for her significant contributions to our industry," Robert C. DeMarzo, senior vice president and editorial director, Everything Channel.

Anthony Daley, executive vice president, The Americas, Westcon Group, commented: "We congratulate Laurie for this well deserved recognition and are grateful for her many contributions to Westcon over the last decade. Laurie's success is in part due to her ability to understand the specific needs of the end-user community, and then provide our reseller customers with a defined set of security solutions that make sense; all within our SecurityPoint program."

A special feature of the Top 100 Women of the Channel is in the August issue of CRN Magazine and expanded coverage will be featured online at www.channelweb.com.
