Westcon to Sponsor Nortel CALA Partner Kick Off 2008

Westcon to Inform Latin American Channel About Its ConvergencePoint Solutions Program During Reseller Event

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL--(Marketwire - March 4, 2008) - Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, announced that it is a sponsoring distributor of the Nortel CALA Partner Kick Off 2008. The annual Nortel event, which is being staged in 11 Latin American countries, will be held throughout the month of March. Westcon Group is the largest distributor of Nortel, and offers its solutions on a global basis through its ConvergencePoint program.

The purpose of CALA Partner Kick Off 2008 is to present new developments in Nortel's products and channel sales programs -- including its sales strategy for 2008. During the event, Nortel will present awards to resellers who have demonstrated outstanding performance during the last year. The Partner Kick Off also includes a series of training programs centered on sales teams within the reseller channels.

Westcon Group will highlight its ConvergencePoint program at the event, which combines world-class solutions, sales tools, product resources and relevant market analysis. The program also provides up-to-date information on convergence manufacturers, promotions and events.

"CALA Partner Kick Off 2008 is an excellent opportunity for resellers to gain a better understanding of Westcon's unique value proposition in the convergence market," says Hélio Guimarães, marketing director for Westcon Group Latin America. "By participating in ConvergencePoint, resellers are more prepared than their competitors to provide solutions that make good sense from a business perspective."

Westcon Group has a longstanding relationship with Nortel. Westcon has been marketing Nortel solutions in Brazil for more than a decade and has been offering Nortel solutions to the Latin America community of resellers since October of last year.

Ana Noy, Account Manger, Latin America and the Caribbean, of Nortel, said: "We are glad to have Westcon participating at the 2008 CALA Partner Kick Off. Nortel continues to focus on the development of new customer partnerships in CALA, providing resellers with strong global vendor relationships, marketing, sales and logistics expertise. Westcon provides a regional solutions-oriented delivery model along with a very clear focus in convergence and mobility."

"Nortel CALA Partner Kick Off represents an important informational exchange for sales channels, since it offers an opportunity to discuss commercial strategies, objectives and victories," commented Alessandre Daher, commercial director of Brazil-based Interatell. "In addition, it is a good forum to review the latest developments in Nortel products. Reseller programs such as Westcon's ConvergencePoint are a fundamental element in reaching our sales goals."
