WESTDOC Returns in 2012 to New Venue in Culver City; Discounted "Early Bird" Registration Now Open

Third Annual West Coast Documentary and Reality Conference Scheduled for September 9-12, 2012

CULVER CITY, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 15, 2012) - Registration is now open for WESTDOC: The West Coast Documentary and Reality Conference, which returns in 2012 for its third annual conference September 9-12 in a new Culver City location, it was announced today by co-founders Chuck Braverman and Richard Propper.

Recognized as the premier conference of its kind on the West Coast, the WESTDOC conference gathers producers and directors of non-fiction/documentary and reality TV programming and the executives who fund and/or acquire such programs. More than 100 industry speakers are expected to participate in the three-day WESTDOC 2012 conference consisting of panels, case studies, social events and exclusive networking sessions.

The conference's climactic event is an all-day PitchFest where documentary and reality producers pitch new projects and concepts directly to network and development executives in front of a live audience for potential acquisition or coproduction funding.

"WESTDOC is an event designed for access and information," explains co-founder Propper. "It's a casual atmosphere for mingling directly with top decision makers, many of whom are based right here in Southern California. Our attendees say the same thing year after year: great people, great ideas. And now we're moving to a great new location; Culver City."

Bordered by Sony Studios on one end and the legendary Culver Studios on the other, downtown Culver City, known as "the Heart of Screenland," provides the ideal open environment for WESTDOC 2012. The exclusive opening night film screening, panels, keynote presentation, PitchFest competition and vendor area all will be located at the beautiful Pacific Theaters Culver Stadium 12. Meanwhile, literally steps away from the theater, the historic and remodeled Culver Hotel will serve as the social center point of WESTDOC 2012, featuring the newly restored "Grand Lobby" and outdoor seating area dedicated exclusively for attendees.

At WESTDOC 2012, more than 30 panels are planned regarding financing, conceiving and selling a documentary or reality TV one-off or series. Contemporary topics covered also will include distribution models from theatrical presentation to digital platforms.

"With digital delivery well on its way to becoming the standard for the entertainment business, we expect to expand our mission to illuminate this new part of our industry," adds co-founder Braverman. "Expect more discussions about navigating the digital marketplace and utilizing newly emerging technologies."

WESTDOC 2012 also is bringing back two unique meeting opportunities that have been extremely popular with attendees: Face Time, the 10-minute, one-on-one opportunity to pitch a network executive of producer's choice, and The Sit-Down, 30-minute intimate overviews of individual networks and production companies outlining what executives and producers are focusing on today and, more importantly, what they're looking for tomorrow.

As in previous years, one ticket gets the attendee into all conference activities, from the Sunday sneak screening to the panels to the parties. Registration information, as well as an updated list of panels, speakers, master classes and instructions on how to participate in PitchFest, can be found at: A discounted "Early Bird" rate is now available through April 30, 2012.
