Western GeoPower Corp.: Wellbore Simulation Of MC-8 Indicates Commercial Well

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - July 7, 2005) -

This news release is not for dissemination in the United States of America or to United States of America news services.

Western GeoPower Corp. (TSX VENTURE:WGP)(FWB:WE6.F)(NOTC:WGEO), a renewable energy development company, announces that a wellbore simulation carried out by independent consultants GeothermEx, Inc., on data provided by an injectivity test of well MC-8 during 2-4 July, indicates the well is commercial, with a projected generating capacity of up to 9.8 megawatts (MW).

Subir Sanyal, President of GeothermEx, states that, "We can estimate a minimum power potential for the well assuming conservatively that the well will heat up to at least 240 degrees C and also a maximum power potential assuming that the well will heat up to the temperature of well MC-6, namely 260 degrees C." Mr. Sanyal concluded that, "The well should have a capacity of between 4 and 9.8 MW, depending on how much it heats up."

As the well has been cooled as a result of normal fluid losses during drilling and the injection of large volumes of cold water for the injection test, it will require several weeks of re-heating to achieve stabilized reservoir temperatures. Once the well has achieved temperature stability, the well will be flow-tested to determine its production rate.
