Western Keltic Mines Inc.: Drilling Commences at Kutcho Creek Property

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - July 7, 2005) - Building on a successful exploration and drilling program in 2004, Western Keltic Mines Inc. (TSX VENTURE:WKM) is pleased to announce that crews have been mobilized to continue exploration drilling at the Kutcho Creek property, located 90 kilometers east of Dease Lake in northern British Columbia. A 43-101 compliant resource estimate at Kutcho Creek (see Press Release, January 11, 2005) has outlined measured and indicated resources at the Kutcho Deposit (using a 1% copper cut-off) of 11.6 million tonnes grading 2.1% copper, 2.8% zinc, 36.2 g/t silver and 0.44 g/t gold; and at the Esso West deposit, an indicated resource of 2.1 million tonnes has been defined grading 3.3% copper, 5.8% zinc, 75.7 g/t silver and 0.71 g/t gold. The deposits contain 670 million pounds of copper, 950 million pounds of zinc and are open to expansion.

The 2005 drilling program will focus on expanding the resources at the Esso West and Kutcho deposits and will evaluate additional areas where geophysical, geological and geochemical surveys have outlined targets with the potential to host additional massive sulphide deposits. At the Esso West deposit, approximately 2500 meters of drilling is planned to test for an extension of the deposit where it remains open for some 800 meters to the west. In addition, approximately 1000 meters of drilling will be carried out in the footwall of the Kutcho deposit to test for the westward continuation of a copper-zinc massive sulphide mineralized zone that underlies the deposit. This footwall mineralized zone has not been tested beyond the eastern end of the Kutcho deposit and surface mapping indicates that alteration associated with the zone extends westward for at least 1500 meters. Approximately 2000 meters of drilling will be carried out at the Jack and North Graben zones, targeting areas where previous work has identified highly prospective altered and mineralized host rocks. Maps illustrating the target areas can be viewed in a power point presentation on the company's website at www.keltic.com.

The 2005 exploration program at Kutcho Creek is being carried out under the direction Western Keltic's Vice President of Exploration, Peter Holbek, P.Geo. The technical information contained in this release has been reviewed by Brian Butterworth, P.Geo., a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
