Western Lakota Announces Three-Year Term Contracts on Five Rigs

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - July 7, 2005) - Western Lakota Energy Services Inc. (TSX:WLE) announces that it has signed three-year term contracts on two 3,600 metre ultra-heavy telescoping double drilling rigs and three 3,200 metre telescoping double drilling rigs. The five rigs include three rigs that are scheduled to be built in 2005 and two rigs that will be built in 2006.

"Contracts of this nature are an indication of our customers' satisfaction with the strong performance that Western Lakota has been able to achieve," said Elson McDougald, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Lakota.

The Company also announces that construction of its third 3,600 metre ultra-heavy telescoping double drilling rig is now complete and it has recently moved to its first well location. Western Lakota's first 1,500 metre automated pipe arm single drilling rig has also been completed and is scheduled to move next week to its first well location.
