Western Promotes Gerald Harper to Senior Vice President, Mongolia

Seasoned Executive Brings Strong Technical and International Expertise to Western

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2007) - Western Prospector Group Ltd. ("Western") (TSX VENTURE:WNP) is pleased to announce the promotion of Gerald Harper, PhD., P.Eng (ON.), P.Geo.(ON.), to Senior Vice President, Mongolia. In this role, Dr. Harper will continue to serve as country manager for Western's Mongolia operations. Dr. Harper will also assume the role of Western's Qualified Person ("QP") from Wayne Roberts, who resigned as Western's SVP and QP.

Since 2005, Dr. Harper has served as Western's Vice President of Exploration, and has directed its exploration, production planning, and Mongolia government programs. Dr. Harper has over 40 years experience working with international public and private companies in the areas of exploration, development, and general management.

Previously, Dr. Harper was President of Geddes Resources Limited, a company which completed its feasibility study for development of one of the largest copper deposits in Canada. He also worked for Northgate Exploration, Falconbridge and Anglo American Corporation in exploration, development and production roles in Canada and other countries.

From 1998-2000, Dr. Harper was President of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada ("PDAC") where he continues to serve on several committees. Most recently, his industry activities included the establishment of the Mineral Industry Safety Association ("MISA") in Mongolia, the first of its kind in Mongolia. He has written and delivered more than seventy scientific papers and presentations, covering analysis of trends in the minerals industry. On December 4, 2007 in Ulaanbaatar, Dr. Harper will present to the Mongolia government working group on Uranium, and his speech will be posted on Western's website.

In connection with Dr. Harper's appointment, the Company granted options under its Stock Option Plan to purchase up to 250,000 common shares. The options are exercisable at $1.35 per share until December, 3, 2012, and vest as to 25% on the date of grant, 25% in one year and 50% in two years.
