Westfield Insurance Offers Free Driving Program for 200 Teens at The Mid-Ohio School May 7

DUBLIN, OH--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Westfield Insurance will host the fourth annual Road Safe Teens Program on Saturday, May 7 at The Mid-Ohio School in Lexington, Ohio.

Each year, Westfield invites 200 newly licensed drivers to participate in the Road Safe Teens program. During their time at The Mid-Ohio School, the teens will discuss the techniques of defensive driving and basic car maintenance tips in a classroom setting, before heading to the Vehicle Dynamics Center for the in-car portion of the day.

Each teen will drive a Honda Civic to test their skills in a number of driving scenarios, including wet braking, emergency lane change and loss of control in the Skid Car. The Mid-Ohio School's instructors will provide the teens with immediate feedback, and work with them to improve their abilities throughout the session. The course is divided into four three hour-long sessions, and is a condensed version of the School's popular Honda Teen Defensive Driving Program.

"We've partnered with The Mid-Ohio School on Road Safe Teens since the program began in 2008. This is one way we give back to our community and customers by helping them protect the newest drivers in their household," said Ed Largent, Westfield Insurance Leader. "It's about preparing teens for a lifetime of safe driving. Mid-Ohio has experienced instructors and defensive driving courses that truly save lives."

Westfield Insurance has partnered with The Mid-Ohio School since 2007 as its Official Insurance Company, recently extending their relationship through 2013. The School's 2011 schedule is sponsored by Westfield, as well, and is available in its entirety at

"Working with our partner, Westfield Insurance, on the Road Safe Teens program is something we look forward to every year. It's rewarding to equip 200 young drivers with a skill-set and knowledge they'll use every time they get behind the wheel. While the most important aspect of the program is to improve their driving ability, the program also can help save a family money on insurance," said Craig Rust, president of The Mid-Ohio School.
