WestJet Plays Santa to Sick Kids in 23 Canadian Cities

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 18, 2006) - WestJet (TSX:WJA) today announced the completion of their cross-country Toy Drive for Sick Kids, dropping off the last of over 2,400 toys to sick children in all 23 of their Canadian destination cities. Over 2,400 toys were donated by WestJetters across the country as part of their ongoing community investment initiatives.

"This is something that WestJet has been doing regionally for years and the coast-to-coast tour represents our growing commitment to support children's health causes throughout the communities in which we operate," says Richard Bartrem, Director of Culture and Communications at WestJet, "WestJet pilots, customers service agents, flight attendants and office staff who participated brought smiles to the faces of many children and families. It was an honour for us to be able to participate in such an initiative in so many hospitals."

WestJet's spirit and compassion shone bright as the goal of gathering an average of 100 toys for each of the 23 hospitals was well exceeded. From St. John's to Comox, pilots, local airport staff and customer service agents visited hospital Christmas parties, playrooms and patient rooms to distribute the toys to kids aged seven-weeks to 18 years old. In addition to the donation of toys, WestJet also donated flights to the fundraising arms of each hospital to be used throughout 2007.

Marking its tenth anniversary this year, WestJet is Canada's leading low-fare airline offering scheduled service throughout its 35-city North American and Caribbean network. Named Canada's most admired corporate culture in 2006, WestJet pioneered low-cost high-value flying in Canada. With increased legroom and leather seats on its modern fleet of Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, and live seatback television provided by Bell ExpressVu on the majority of its fleet, WestJet strives to be the number one choice for travellers.
