WestJet Simplifies Travel Experience for Web Check-In Guests: Airline Provides Baggage Drop Counters at all Canadian Airports

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 01, 2005) - WestJet (TSX:WJA) today announced it is making Web check-in even easier for guests with the expansion of its baggage drop counters to all of its Canadian airports. These counters were previously available only at selected domestic airports served by WestJet.

Launched in April this year, WestJet's Web check-in program is available for all domestic flights within Canada. WestJet guests departing from any of the 23 Canadian cities served by the airline can check in online at westjet.com, select their seat, and print their boarding pass from the convenience of their own home or office - all before arriving at the airport. Dedicated baggage drop counters at the airport also enable guests to enjoy a speedier check-in experience.

Dale Tinevez, WestJet's Vice-President of Airports, commented today: "We strongly believe in providing our guests with the opportunity to choose their own check-in experience, whether it is through our Web check-in program, our self-serve check-in kiosks or our traditional counter check-in. This year, more than 30% of our guests have chosen to check themselves in and select their own seat. We believe the extension of our online check-in feature and dedicated baggage drop counters will be a welcomed addition to those who prefer to use WestJet's self-serve options."

In an effort to deliver even faster customer service and more choice for its guests, WestJet's online check-in service is available up to 12 hours before a flight, and up to one hour before departure. Upon arrival at the airport, guests with baggage may proceed to the Baggage Drop counter while guests with carry-on luggage only may proceed directly to security screening and make their way to the gate.

Last year, WestJet launched self-serve check-in kiosks at its airports in Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg and most recently added kiosks to its Victoria and Kelowna locations.

WestJet is Canada's leading low-cost airline offering scheduled service throughout its 35-city North American network. Named Canada's most respected corporation for customer service in 2005, WestJet pioneered low-cost high-value flying in Canada. With increased legroom and leather seats on its modern fleet of Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, and live seatback television provided by Bell ExpressVu on its 737-700 fleet, WestJet strives to be the number one choice for travellers.
