Westlake Sees Boost in First-Quarter 2011 as Prices, Volumes Increase, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- Chemical and plastic products manufacturer Westlake Chemical Corporation (NYSE:WLK) reported record quarterly income from operations for first-quarter 2011, as sales prices for all of the company's major products continued to reach new highs, and PVC resin and caustic sales volumes continued to grow. Net income was reported to be $83.54 million for the quarter, compared with $17.65 million in first-quarter 2010.
