Westminster Savings Credit Union Launches New Youth in Action Program

NEW WESTMINSTER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 28, 2006) - Westminster Savings Credit Union has launched a new Youth in Action (YIA) program with the mailing of a Spring 2006 YIA newsletter to their Junior members aged 18 and under. This launch marks Westminster Savings Credit Union as the first financial intuition in their trade area to target youth of all ages with a comprehensive program which includes challenges, awards, a newsletter and a school program.

The program is divided into three age groups: Kids (8 and under), Pre-Teens (aged 9-12) and Teens (aged 13 - 18). Each has their own challenges and prizes which will help them gain real life experience and develop healthy long-term money management habits. It is designed to help youth become more financially and socially responsible as well as developing strong planning and goal-setting skills.

"We are committed to empowering youth to be successful adults and support them to build a strong foundation for the future. We care about all members of the family and this new Youth in Action program complements our values and our belong theme," said Barry Forbes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Westminster Savings Credit Union. "We believe that young people have a tremendous capacity to make a difference in the world and having practical life skills will help them achieve their goals."

The Youth in Action program was customized by PowerPlay Strategies Inc., a local company specializing in creating fun, experiential learning programs related to financial and social responsibility. Westminster Savings Credit Union is also partnering with PowerPlay Strategies to offer the Youth in Action program at various schools with classroom challenges.
