PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 4, 2012) - Just in time for the holidays, a time of year when many people collect videos of friends and family, WeVideo announces its new online, super simple video editor. With the new editor, WeVideo now includes instant access to photos and video clips users have already uploaded to Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Flickr or Google Drive, as well as over a dozen professionally designed Themes.
The new simple video editor was created after the collaborative cloud-based video editing company surveyed over 100,000 of its users, discovering 79% of them reported that they had little (38%) to no (41%) prior video editing experience.
"With smaller and better cameras built into mobile phones, (or in some cases, strapped to people's heads), individuals are capturing more video footage than ever," says WeVideo CEO Jostein Svendsen. "As these clips accumulate, it's no wonder we are seeing so much interest from first time video creators. To serve these users better, we have re-imagined what video editing could be."
WeVideo's new simple editor offers drag and drop simplicity with intuitively placed action buttons directing users to upload and arrange their files, choose a soundtrack, add titles and effects and share their final product online. WeVideo's new social integration makes it easy for video creators to select photos, videos and music from Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, Dropbox and Google Drive. WeVideo users can also set the look of their videos by applying one of fourteen Themes from Punk Rock to Vintage, to White Wedding and even Noir. Theme elements include transitions, fonts, graphics and color correction.
WeVideo even encourages first-time users to grow as video editors; starting in the simplest "Storyboard" mode, then moving to "Timeline" mode (which offers more options and control) and eventually graduating to the WeVideo Full Feature editor which has all the bells and whistles of an advanced video editing platform. The simple new WeVideo editor is available starting today on YouTube and in the Chrome Web Store. WeVideo can be run from any browser on Chromebooks, netbooks, laptops and desktops. It works without the need for downloaded software or a robust machine. "Since we launched in 2011, WeVideo has been all about the democratization of video storytelling," says Svendsen. "We think this new simple editor is a significant step toward that goal."
WeVideo makes video editing simple and accessible with its unique, cloud-based collaborative video editing service that helps people from all over the world create and share stories from anywhere. WeVideo's editor is easy enough for first-time editors, and sophisticated enough to help anyone create a professional looking video. WeVideo is available in any browser and as an integrated video editor within YouTube and Google Drive. The company's headquarters are located in Palo Alto California and based on technologies that originated in Scandinavia. At WeVideo, we believe everyone has a story to tell, and it's our job to help people bring their stories to life through video.
