MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - June 5, 2012) - Pre-booking your car hire before you arrive at your travel destination is a smart move. It gives you peace of mind that your vehicle will be waiting for you, so that all you have to do when you arrive is sign the paperwork and drive away. But what happens when we are asked to pay more money to the local depot staff? Do you understand why and what you are paying for?
When you book a hire car in Spain with Auto Europe, you will be given all the information on what items you may need to pay for locally before you travel. Our newly designed website lists these items in the Terms & Conditions section, which is shown next to the price results from your car hire search. In addition to this, they are also shown on your pre-paid rental voucher which you must have in order to collect your vehicle.
The fuel charge of any rental is not an item that can be included in the cost of a hire car, as the price of fuel varies per country and also on a daily basis. Some car hire suppliers may wish for you to collect a vehicle with a full tank and return in the same way, or for you to return the vehicle with an empty tank. If you are thinking of having extra drivers to help with the trip, this may also be something that you pay for directly at the depot. With any rental car there will be an excess that the supplier will charge if any damage is caused to a vehicle; you will be offered a local rate to reduce that excess and it is up to you if you choose to sign for this extra.
By reading the terms and conditions of your booking before you travel, you are preparing yourself for the collection and will be aware of the extras that may be offered by the local depot. If at any point you are unsure of what is included in your booking, you can always contact Auto Europe on our 24/7 reservations free-phone number: 0800 358 1229.
