What Does Unlimited QE Mean for Investors in Gold...and Santo Mining Corp. (SANP)?

NEWARK, DELAWARE--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2012) - News that the Federal Reserve has extended its guidance for low rates through 2015, as well as announcing quantitative easing with an undefined endpoint, has sent stocks up-along with the price of gold, which hit a 2012 high of $1,791.20 earlier this week.

Behind the headline is the market's acknowledgement of a consequence of the Fed's action, namely further devaluation of the U.S. dollar. With the printing presses running full speed ahead to accommodate government spending and juice the economy, inflation fears have investors turning to safe havens-most notably, gold.

All gold investments are not created equal: From bullion to precious metal mining stocks to gold ETFs, each comes with their own pros, cons, risks and rewards. So, where does the savvy investor look to get the biggest bang from the diminishing buck?

History would indicate the wisdom of taking a good look at junior mining companies, which have been beaten down even as the price of gold broke through the $1,700 barrier. Many of these companies are currently trading at or below cash value-a situation that can't last forever. And when junior miners move on news of probable and proven reserves, it tends to be in a hurry, with share prices that double, triple or more in short order.

One company currently flying below Wall Street's radar is a small junior gold exploration firm called Santo Mining Corporation (SANP). Based in the Dominican Republic, this company has recently snapped up three gold claims in close proximity to heavy hitters such as Goldcorp (GG), which is partnering with the world's largest gold producer at the renowned Pueblo Viejo mine - with proven and probable reserves of 25.3 million ounces of gold. Other key companies include Newmont Mining (NEM), Xstrata, Perilya, Everton Resources, Brigus Gold, Unigold, and PanTerra Gold.

While the dropping dollar and low interest rates can be cause for anxiety for fixed-income investors, junior golds such as Santo Mining offer a different, and potentially lucrative, way to leverage the free-spending ways of the U.S. government.
