What is Open and Closed at the Ville de Montreal for Christmas and New Year's 2006-2007

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 21, 2006) - Several Montreal facilities will be open on Christmas Day and New Year's, while others will have different opening hours.

Most Montreal offices will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's. This includes borough and Acces Montreal offices as well as various points of service. Montrealers may visit the borough Web sites at ville.montreal.qc.ca

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING PICK-UPS

Schedules vary by borough, so residents are invited to consult their local papers or call their point of service, to find out about any schedule changes.

SPORTS AND CULTURAL FACILITIES

Residents who would like information on the opening hours of arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries or cultural facilities in their borough may call the facility.

MONTREAL SCIENTIFIC FACILITIES

The Biodome, 4777, avenue Pierre-De Coubertin, will be closed on December 24 and 25. It will be open on December 31, and January 1 and 2, 2007, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting Monday, January 9, 2007, the new schedule will be Tuesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514 868-3000.

The Montreal Planetarium, 1000, rue Saint-Jacques, will be open during the holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Mondays, December 25 and January 1, 2007. You may visit the Web site at www.planetarium.montreal.qc.ca Information: 514 872-4530.

The Botanical Garden and Insectarium, 4101 and 4581, rue Sherbrooke Est, will be closed on December 24 and 25 and will be open the rest of the time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514 872-1400.

OTHER FACILITIES

The municipal court, 775, rue Gosford, will be closed December 22 to January 2, 2007, included. Other points of service in the boroughs, as well as the counter at 303, rue Notre-Dame Est will be open on December 27 and 28 only. Information: 514 872-2964.

The public markets will be closed on December 25 and 26 and on January 1 and 2, 2007. On regular working days, the schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514 937-7754.

The Bonsecours Market, 350, rue Saint-Paul Est, will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except December 25 and January 1, 2007. Information: 514 872-7730.

The Pointe-a-Calliere museum of archaeology and history will be closed on December 25, and open on December 26, 2006, and January 1, 2007, noon to 5 p.m. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday and weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 514 872-9150.

The Claude-Robillard sports complex will be closed December 23 to 26, 2006. It will be open December 27 to 29, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and closed December 30 to January 2, 2007. The facility will get back to its regular schedule on January 3, 2007, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Information: 514 872-6900.

PARKING

Metered parking and parking restrictions are in effect at all times during the Christmas and New Year's holiday.
