Les Productions San Tropez are pleased to announce a big salsa show benefiting sustainable energy and environmental protection, as part of the 5th Montreal Salsa Convention. On Thursday, April 16, 2009, the talented Salsa Team Canada troupe will take to the dance floor in Tierra Nueva (New Earth). The profits from the performance will go toward the environmental organization Sierra Club Canada.

TWICE THE REASON TO ATTEND

In addition to being a benefit event for Sierra Club Canada, the show also marks the long-awaited stage return of Salsa Team Canada. The troupe is back and will be bringing the sizzle as never before.

Salsa Team Canada was established in 2002. That same year, the troupe represented Canada at the Puerto Rico World Salsa Congress. Founder Sonia Kyriacou intended to show the world that Canada has excellent dancers. In the process, she also introduced her own brand of Salsa. Today, Salsa Team Canada features the top Salsa dancers in the country. Home to over 50 elite performers from six Canadian cities, it is the only national team that can advertise having logged nearly 10 million km2. The troupe continues to represent Canada on the international stage.

The Tierra Nueva performance is a "show" of solidarity with the environment, with profits going to Sierra Club Canada. The environmental organization has active chapters across the country and major campaigns in four program areas: health and environment, protecting biodiversity, atmosphere and energy, and transition to a sustainable economy. The dancers and Kyriacou, who in addition to founding Salsa Team Canada is also the creator and organizer of the Montreal Salsa Convention, look forward to contributing their art to supporting environmental protection and sustainable energy!

Sonia Kyriacou is the founder of Salsa Team Canada and the troupe's coordinator for Montreal. With more than 15 years dance experience ranging from Salsa to tap and hip hop, Kyriacou is now a leading expert in creating and developing dance troupes and companies. Also the founding director of the San Tropez dance school, she understands what it takes to produce a high calibre show.
