TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 10, 2013) - Thomas Yang, of Whitby's Donald A. Wilson Secondary School, tied for ninth in the 2013 edition of the COIN Competition. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario held its annual competition on May 22 to give high school students considering a career as a Chartered Accountant the opportunity to compete, have fun and earn some cash prizes.

For finishing ninth, Mr. Yang receives $100 and a plaque. As one of the Ontario students who placed in the top ten of COIN writers, he's also invited to attend an Honour Roll luncheon in Toronto on June 11.

"COIN is a popular Institute initiative to encourage students to consider becoming a Chartered Accountant," said Mona Ghiami, CPA, CA, Director of Career Information at the Institute. "This year 315 students from over 100 high schools across the province participated in this highly competitive contest."

The Institute also announced the top contest winners from across Ontario. The first place prize provincially is $1,500, with the second place winners each receiving $1,000 and third place finishers getting $500, with their respective high schools receiving matching amounts.
