Whitepages Pro Now Identifies Every Phone Number in North America

Expands Phone Intelligence for Business and Accurately Verifies User, Carriers, Prepaid Indicator, Spam Score and More

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2014) - Whitepages Pro, the enterprise division of Whitepages, today announced the expansion of its phone intelligence solution to identify and provide data around 100 percent of phone numbers in the United States and Canada. The new functionality provides more expansive data on phone numbers, including carrier, line type (e.g. mobile or landline), if it is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry, if it is a prepaid account and has an associated spam score. The data is accessed through Whitepages Pro via a web-based service or an API.

"Our goal is to help businesses make more informed decisions about risk management, customer service and marketing efforts, but our potential for helping them is only as good as our reach," said Rob Eleveld, VP of sales, WhitePages Pro. "By providing meaningful data around every phone number in the North America, businesses can prioritize marketing and customer service efforts and ensure that no risk goes unidentified."

Whitepages Pro's extensive phone data now provides the following information for phone numbers in North America:

  • Line Type: indicates whether a number is a landline, mobile number, fixed VOIP (like Comcast), non-fixed VoIP (Voice over IP, such as Google Voice or Skype), a premium number, a toll-free number, a 10-digit number originating from outside the United States, or an invalid number that does not exist in the telephone system.
  • Carrier: indicates the company providing service to the associated number, including hard to identify carriers such as Virgin Mobile and TracFone.
  • Do Not Call (DNC) Registration: identifies whether the number is on the National Do Not Call Registry.
  • Service Plans: provides data to indicate whether the number is part of a prepaid service plan.
  • Spam Score: provides a score that suggests if a phone number has engaged in spam activity. Spam Score is unique in the industry, as Whitepages Pro analyzes billions of monthly calls to derive the score.

Phone data from Whitepages Pro is used in a variety of business environments, from call center and marketing to risk management. Call center operators and marketers can identify and verify inbound calls, and now can prioritize, route and service calls based on name, address, carrier, phone type and prepaid flags. The prepaid flag also helps marketers identify different demographics relative to mobile subscribers. Intelligence around DNC registration helps marketing organizations comply with TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) legislation and data associated with a customer's phone number -- such as prepaid indicators and high spam spores, which can often indicate fraud -- can help them make quick risk assessments.

Whitepages Pro's enterprise customer roster includes well-known financial institutions, card processors and call center organizations that each rely on the service to validate and cross-verify identity information. To learn more about the enhanced phone data from Whitepages Pro, visit
