Wi-LAN Announces Change of Auditors

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 25, 2006) - Wi-LAN Inc. (TSX:WIN) ("Wi-LAN" or "the Company") today announced that KPMG LLP, have resigned as auditors, and that Wi-LAN's Board, at the recommendation of the Audit Committee, has appointed Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP ("PWC") as auditors for the period until the next annual shareholders' meeting. The change in auditors aligns with the completion of the Company's transformation into an intellectual property ("IP") licensing business, including the recent relocation of its head office from Calgary to Ottawa.

"With Wi-LAN's move to Ottawa and the evolution in the nature of our business, I am pleased with the appointment of PWC, and know we will have a strong and professional relationship with the firm going forward," said Steve Bower, CFO. "KPMG in Calgary have supported Wi-LAN and its shareholders for a number of years, and have been very helpful in this transition."

There were no reservations in the auditors' report in respect of Wi-LAN's annual financial statements in prior years, and no disagreements on accounting or reporting matters.
