Wi-LAN Provides Update on Licensing Activities During Second Quarter

Seventeen new companies license Wi-LAN technologies in the Company's second quarter

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - May 7, 2008) - Wi-LAN Inc. ("Wi-LAN" or the "Company") (TSX:WIN), a leading technology innovation and licensing company, today announced an update to its licensing initiatives during its second quarter, which ended April 30, 2008.

The company is pleased to announce that it signed running royalty licenses during the quarter with Portable One Inc., Grace Digital Inc., StarMesh Technologies LLC and a company that asked to remain unnamed for patents covering various wireless technologies. This brings the total number of wireless licensees signed during the quarter to ten (10) and the total to date to twenty-one (21). Early in the third quarter, the Company also signed Xirrus Inc. to a running royalty licensing agreement for patents covering various wireless technologies.

The Company also announced that it has signed Artec Electronics Co., Ltd. and Zinwell International Ltd. to running royalty license agreements for its V-chip patents. The addition of these two licensees brings the total number of V-chip licensees signed during the quarter to seven (7) and the total to date to eighty-two (82).

Wi-LAN expects to provide more information concerning the future revenues expected from booked license agreements at the time it releases its second quarter financial results on June 4, 2008.
