Widen Adds Dropbox Integration in Latest Round of Updates to Its World-Class Digital Asset Management Solution

Dropbox Integration, Embedded Metadata, InDesign Previews, and User Interface Updates Among the Enhancements to the Widen Media Collective Version 6.4

MADISON, WI--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2013) - Widen Enterprises has released a new batch of upgrades to all customers of the leading cloud-based digital asset management solution -- Widen Media Collective. Among the more notable enhancements in the 6.4 release is an integration with Dropbox to streamline the transfer of files and bridge the user experience with this popular file sharing application.

"This integration allows files to be synced to users' desktops and other devices with an application they are already familiar with," said Deanna Ballew, Widen manager of development and infrastructure. "Our users already use Dropbox, so this integration makes it easy for files to be added to DAM and download from DAM. The user wait time is eliminated since Dropbox does everything behind the scenes and notifies the users when the files are available."

Additional new features and improvements in Media Collective version 6.4 include:

  • A simple guided tour of the key features of the Collective for all new users
  • Ability to embed XMP and IPTC metadata when assets are downloaded
  • Previews for InDesign files and InDesign files included with ZIP files
  • Upload tool upgrades to eliminate the need for 3rd-party plugins (such as Java)
  • New search options for deleted assets and deleted users
  • Cleaner, brighter user interface (UI) for category tree and search results display
  • Streamlined selection panel for downloading and batch editing assets
  • UI updates to the conversion selection, order pickup and user profile pages
  • Updated preview icons for assets without previews available

"A number of the new features included with the new release were guided by direct customer ideas and feedback," said Lanita Haag, Widen director of project services. "That's the joy of having a very engaged user base and the SaaS DAM model allowing us to offer a timely response to client requests."

In addition to customer-driven improvements, Widen's product direction with three to four releases per year is guided by many internal innovations.

"We take a core four approach to product development here at Widen as our roadmap is guided by customer feedback, market research, competitive intelligence and internal innovations," said Jake Athey, Widen marketing manager. "Something we do very well in addition to funneling customer feedback through to the product team is tapping our internal creativity. It's in our mission and we provide ample opportunity for every employee to empower creative expression."

The Widen Media Collective cloud-based digital asset management solution is enjoyed by over 155,000 users in 170 countries and is used to power the creative and marketing workflows for over 200 organizations worldwide.
