Wiggle Triathlete Enjoys Double Victory After Completing the TriStar Nevis 111 International Triathlon

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Wiggle bike shop triathlete Emma-Kate Lidbury is celebrating back-to-back wins in the Caribbean, having won the TriStar Nevis 111 International Triathlon this weekend after success in the Nevis to St Kitts 2.5 mile swim a week before. Emma-Kate secured a convincing win in the triathlon with a winning margin of more than 30 minutes over three-time Ironman Brazil champion Fernanda Keller.

Emma-Kate's week wasn't without its dramas, though, as on arrival in Nevis she discovered her triathlon bike had been damaged in transit. Wiggle bikes provided phenomenal support and service in sending a replacement frame from the UK to the West Indies in less than three days.

The 31-year-old Wiggle triathlete said: "I am delighted to have won the race; it's my first victory as a professional racer and the first of many I hope. None of it would have been possible without Wiggle and I am hugely grateful for their help in sending replacement triathlon bikes. The speed in which they responded was extraordinary."

The TriStar Nevis 111 event involved a 1km swim, 100km cycle and 10km run. The swim took place in the warm Caribbean waters off Charlestown Dock so triathlon wetsuits weren't needed. The bike course consisted of three loops around the island of Nevis which included three times up a gruelling 15km climb. The run wasn't much kinder with sections across the beach, as well as uphill and downhill on tracks and trails.

Last Sunday, Emma-Kate competed in the Nevis to St Kitts 2.5mile cross channel swim, winning the women's race and finishing third overall behind two male professional triathletes in a new female course record of 62 minutes.
