Wiggle.co.uk Wins Cross Border Title at UK e-Commerce Awards for Excellence

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 20, 2010) - For many years Wiggle has enjoyed a stellar reputation in the UK - and in the past year its popularity has spread around the globe. That popularity was officially recognised tonight when Wiggle won the Cross Border e-Retail title at the prestigious UK e-Commerce Awards for Excellence 2010. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony held at London's Millennium Gloucester Hotel which was attended by more than 300 people this evening. Wiggle was also shortlisted for the Best Customer Experience award.

Wiggle's phenomenal overseas growth impressed the judging panel, which comprised of many senior figures from the online industry. The 3.4 million worldwide visitors Wiggle received this July, coupled with its 416 per cent increase in overseas transactions in the past year, made it a strong contender for this award. With companies such as ASOS.com in the running, it was always going to be a hotly contested title, but the fact that Wiggle now ships cycles and other products to more than 70 countries around the globe and the majority of shoppers are able to browse in their own language and currency helped Wiggle seal the win.

Martin Talbot, Wiggle's director of marketing, said: "We are obviously delighted to win this award. For us, this is great recognition of all our hard work and for our customers it confirms that we are the best in the business. We work hard to ensure all Wiggle customers are happy customers, wherever they are in the world, and this award reinforces that."

Tonight's triumphs follow Wiggle's win at the BikeBiz Awards a fortnight ago when it was crowned best online retailer of the year for the second year running. It has been a highly successful year for the bike and triathlon retailer: in the summer, Experian Hitwise UK named Wiggle as Britain's most visited bike website during the first half of 2010. This is a title it has enjoyed every year since 2006. Wiggle was also ranked fourth overall in the sport and fitness retail industry sector.

And the accolades don't stop there: for six years running Wiggle has won Best Mail Order Company in 220 Triathlon Magazine's awards and was also voted as the UK's Top Sports and Leisure Site by readers of consumer magazine Which?
