NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 15, 2014) - The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the world's most comprehensive conservation organization, announced today three agency of record appointments, effective immediately. Horizon Media will provide the organization with cross-channel media activation and planning, while DDB New York will be responsible for creative duties and Quinn will handle lifestyle public relations.
The trio of agencies will join forces to develop a targeted series of campaigns in support of 96 Elephants, a marketing movement named after the number of African elephants killed a day and created by WCS to safeguard the future of these animals. Work is planned to launch in Q3 of 2014 with activity beginning today to mark World Elephant Day.

The Wildlife Conservation Society has brought together world citizens, corporate partners, thought leaders, and change makers via a targeted marketing movement to help prevent African Elephant extinction.
The cause has drawn strong support from Hillary and Chelsea Clinton of the Clinton Global Initiative, and well-known personalities including Deepak Chopra, Billy Joel, Audra McDonald, and Gloria Steinem. Working with other partners, the 96 Elephants program recently helped pass a ban on the sale of ivory in the state of New York, the largest ivory market in the U.S.

The first campaign for the Wildlife Conservation Society launches this week to mark World Elephant Day. Horizon Media has secured digital signage in support of 96 Elephants in Times Square and in various other markets. In 1980, the population of African elephants was 1.2 million; today it is about 420,000, representing a 65 percent decrease. The 96 Elephants effort takes a three pronged approach to counter elephant slaughter: Stop the killing, stop the trafficking, and stop the demand. Educating public audiences about the link between the purchase of ivory products and the elephant poaching crisis, the program will advocate ivory sales moratoria and policies to protect this majestic species. The new advertising campaign in support of 96 Elephants is slated to launch Q3 of 2014.
