"Will the Government spending cuts announced yesterday lead to a break up of the "Big Society" before it has even been formed?" asks Jesse Young CEO of Per DM Group

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2010) - The Government's announcement of swingeing spending cuts yesterday has given rise to the possibility of the British society facing years of anarchy and strife as those most affected voice their anger.

The vast majority of the population agreed with Jesse Young of Per DM that we all had to tighten our belts and make sacrifices if we were going to survive the "credit crunch'. Clearly the same majority didn't understand the full picture and just how serious Britain's deficit was. However they couldn't have predicted how much it would impact on them.

The Prime Minister David Cameron announced at the Tory Party Conference that; "We will do our bit" and "Your country needs you". He went on to say this was the era of the "Big Society". Well yesterday the Government "did their bit" and announced deep cuts in Government spending which will impact on EVERY member of the general public.

Jesse Young of Per DM Group, one of the UK's leading outsource sales organisations sees trouble ahead not only for the economy but also for society in general. "With a projected half a million jobs being lost in the public sector alone, more than 650,000 people being added to the council waiting lists, a 4% reduction in policing budgets equating, in real terms, to a 20% cut and a potential loss of 18,000 police jobs and if we add to that the removal of the rent cap on council and social housing, a cut in benefits and an increase in travel costs, it is potentially disaster waiting to happen" says Jesse Young.

France is currently crippled with a series of strikes and civil unrest across the country. Demonstrations have led to violence with even school children joining the front line protests. Their spending cuts have not nearly been as deep as the UK's and the loss of benefits and threat to jobs have been much less than we are facing.

The Unions have already said that they will take action and now that we all know the extent of the cuts and how it will impact on the nation, Britain should brace itself for a long sustained period of protests and strikes. Businesses will suffer, revenues will decline and profits shrink leading to less tax income for the Exchequer and so the spiral will continue.

David Cameron's vision of a "Big Society" is under threat as the ordinary man in the street comes to terms with all of this.
Jesse Young commented "For the great number who will lose their jobs, the PM's announcement that; "Your country needs you" it will seem exactly the opposite. "Your country DOESN'T need you!"
