Williamsburg Dental Office Introduces Nitrous Oxide

WILLIAMSBURG, VA--(Marketwired - February 24, 2016) - Historic Triangle Dental Care, a Williamsburg family dental office, has added a new service to help patients relax and get more comfortable during their dental treatments and appointments.

Nitrous oxide is rendered as a gas and helps patients who have a mild anxiety or fear of the dentist. The treatment, known as laughing gas, is safe and effective and the most mild form of dental sedation available.

"This will allow us more options for sedation and anxiety-free treatment," said Dr. Michael Whyte, who operates Historic Triangle Dental Care. "It will also allow us to provide a better experience, particularly to children who are not eligible for other forms of sedation currently offered in the office."

Nitrous oxide, which can be used for patients of all ages, is an odorless gas that Dr. Whyte administers through a mask. Patients are fully awake under nitrous oxide and can take normal directions from the dentist.

Nitrous oxide is so helpful because it takes effect quickly and wears off quickly, which means patients can drive themselves to their dental appointments and return to their normal schedules immediately after an appointment.

"Even just in the first week of being in the new office, we've already had a huge positive response from those patients who have opted for nitrous," Dr. Whyte said. "Parents of children who receive dental work while using nitrous are very pleased with the response they see in their children and the calm, happy environment they feel while receiving the care they need."

Historic Triangle Dental Care offers all phases of dentistry, including cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, implant dentistry, sleep apnea treatment, gum disease treatment, endodontics and beautiful dentures.

Historic Triangle Dental Care is a preferred Invisalign provider and places dental implants for patients with missing teeth or those who need to stabilize dentures. The office also focuses on All-on-4 dental implants and full-mouth reconstructions. All-on-4 dental implants are designed to anchor permanent teeth on the top and bottom arches. Upper dentures typically rely on suction to stay in place, but All-on-4 dental implants are restored with a set of permanent teeth that leave the upper palate open, which allows the patient to experience more tastes.

Dental implants nearly mimic natural teeth and can last a lifetime if cared for properly.

The practice uses cone beam computed tomography and 3-D imaging to diagnose and treat patients; WaveOne endodontics system for quick root canals; and the Pala Digital Denture System to create accurate and beautiful dentures in just two visits. The dental practice also works with Arrowhead Dental Lab's Elite e.max to create long-lasting and natural-looking crowns and restorations.

Dr. Whyte earned his undergraduate degree from Utah State University in economics and biology and then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has also completed continuing education in All-on-4 dental implants, sleep apnea treatment, sedation dentistry and full-mouth reconstruction.
