Local pallet recycler, Willow Brae Pallets is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and commemorated this milestone by honouring a customer who has been loyal throughout their history, Home Hardware Stores Limited. "It is a great achievement to have maintained our relationship for 40 years. We've dealt with them for so long Home Hardware is like a part of our family," said Willow Brae president, Robert Weber.

Home Hardware was Willow Brae's first customer back in the early 70's. The pallet recycling firm started out by providing snow removal services to the hardware giant and then branched out into assisting with their pallet management needs. Willow Brae's founder, John A. Weber, recalls, "I was ploughing Home Hardware's lot and noticed that pallets were being removed for firewood, and then left in disarray. With permission, I cleaned it all up and our relationship grew from there." Scott Courtemanche, Home Hardware's Director of Facilities and Equipment commented, "Teaming up with Willow Brae Pallets has been a great business decision for Home Hardware Stores Limited. Recycling pallets that are no longer serviceable has helped us divert over 1 million pounds of wood annually from our landfill."

Executives from Willow Brae Pallet met at Home Hardware Stores Limited in St. Jacobs to present a commemorative hand crafted crokinole board. Willow Brae felt that this item was an appropriate symbol as it represents the local area, which is home to both companies. Paul Straus, Home Hardware's Vice President and CEO commented, "This presentation is a reminder to us at Home Hardware of how our business has impacted other companies in the community. Not only is this a milestone for Willow Brae, it is also a milestone for Home Hardware. We thank Willow Brae for their years of service."

Willow Brae Pallets, located in North Waterloo, has been a trusted provider of recycled pallets since 1972. Founded on the core values and customer service tradition of John A.
