Wimba Releases Wimba Voice 5.2

New Features Driven by User Community

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - October 15, 2007) - Wimba, the education technology company that helps people teach people, today announced the release of its Wimba Voice version 5.2, formerly known as Voice Tools. Leveraging a close connection to its user community, Wimba based the new release almost entirely on the collaborative input and expressed needs of its users.

Features of Wimba Voice 5.2 include enhanced volume controls, improved accuracy for fast forward and rewind, expanded audio input and output options, and improved time indicators. The new continuous playback option relieves faculty and students of having to click on each individual voice thread to review student-recorded voice boards or listen to course lectures through the Wimba Podcaster. In addition, the user interface has been updated to provide a fresh, clean look.

"Our users' success is directly connected to the performance of our solutions," said Annie R. Chechitelli, Senior Director, Product Marketing, Wimba. "We're grateful for their input, which we'll continue to value as we pursue even greater levels of collaboration in education technology."

Wimba Voice is well-suited for language learning and creating vocal exercises in any subject. The web-based tools, which integrate seamlessly with an institution's course management system (CMS), facilitate and promote vocal instruction, collaboration, coaching, and assessment. Additionally, Wimba Voice humanizes and personalizes any online course by using enabling voice boards, voice-enabled email, embedded voice within course pages, and live group discussions and debates.

"Working with Wimba continues to be a true partnership. Wimba Voice 5.2 is a perfect example of how Wimba listens to clients and prioritizes its product roadmap based on our feedback," said Donna Vakili, Ph.D., Director for the Idaho Digital Learning Academy. "The tool's usefulness extends beyond the 'obvious' subjects like foreign-language and speech, enabling our teachers in every content area to communicate personally, above and beyond what can be accomplished in text alone. For K-12 students, personal contact and feedback with voice tools are critical for student success."

Wimba offers the most comprehensive suite of collaborative products created exclusively for education. Wimba Voice 5.2 is part of the Wimba Collaboration Suite -- which includes Wimba Classroom, Wimba Voice, Wimba Create and Wimba Pronto (formerly known as Live Classroom, Voice Tools, Course Genie and Pronto, respectively) -- empowers educators and publishers with a unique collaborative approach that enhances learning, improves outcomes, and increases student retention.

Wimba's users include K-12 institutions, universities and colleges around the world that value collaborative online learning.
