Wind Energy America Inc. Announces Commercial Operation of Minnesota Wind Turbine

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN--(Marketwire - March 19, 2010) -  Wind Energy America Inc. ("WEA") (PINKSHEETS: WNEA) (FRANKFURT: 41W) has completed the commissioning of the first of two Gamesa G-52 0.8-megawatt (MW) wind turbines, part of their wholly owned NAE Shaokatan Power Partners LLC ("NSPP"), located on Buffalo Ridge adjacent to WEA's Midwest Center for Wind Energy in Hendricks, Minnesota.

WEA contracted services to retrofit and fully commission the turbines, acquired in September of 2008, in order to achieve full production and commercial operation. It is expected that commissioning of the second G-52 turbine will be completed in Q2 of 2010.

The turbine has a 52 meter diameter rotor, stands 65 meters tall and is capable of generating enough power (approximately 2 million kilowatt-hours annually) to power about 200 homes. Energy produced at NSPP is to be sold to Xcel Energy. "Achieving commercial operation for this turbine demonstrates the continued progress that Wind Energy America is making toward the execution of our growth plans," said Mel Wentz, CEO of WEA.
