Windsor Housing Demand to Edge Lower in 2011

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 4, 2011) - Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) released its 2011 Fall Housing Market Outlook report today for the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA). Activity in the housing market is forecast to decline in the remainder of 2011 followed by some recovery in 2012.

"Stronger employment levels and low mortgage rates are expected to support housing markets in 2012," said Paul Tessaro, CMHC's Windsor Market Analyst. While new home starts are expected to decline in the fourth quarter of 2011 before rising in 2012, the existing home market will remain balanced in 2012 with the average price rising moderately and sales easing.

As Canada's national housing agency, CMHC draws on more than 65 years of experience to help Canadians access a variety of high quality, environmentally sustainable and affordable housing solutions. CMHC also provides reliable, impartial and up-to-date housing market reports, analysis and knowledge to support and assist consumers and the housing industry in making informed decisions.
