Windstream Grows 100% in AiNET's Baltimore Data Center

AiNET Sees Continued Growth in Occupancy at One Market Center, Its Data Center That Anchors Baltimore's Downtown Business Technology Hub, as Companies Expand to Satisfy Demand for IT Services

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwired - September 21, 2016) - Perry Fisher, Senior Vice President at AiNET®, has noticed steady growth in occupancy, and a slew of contract renewals, at One Market Center -- the largest data center in Baltimore. Standing seven stories high, and across the street from Baltimore's historic Lexington Market, rows of tenant work vans and trucks often overflow the parking lot behind the building. Remarking on the recent Windstream Communications contract that has the national telecom firm expanding its footprint to 17,000 square feet within the data center, Fisher says, "It's a good year to be in the data center business."

Much has been made of the burgeoning technology sector in Baltimore. At local TechBreakfasts, the monthly startup and technology demo events held throughout the region, one is just as likely to meet venture capitalists looking for the next hot company as they are likely to meet representatives from a local start up. CBRE, the real estate research and brokerage firm, has identified high-tech industry growth as a major driver of employment and occupancy of commercial space in Baltimore multiple times in the last two years.

AiNET is positioned to reap the benefits of this continuing growth. The company's acquisition of One Market Center has allowed it to expand in Baltimore, and serves as the region's largest telecommunications hub. Inside the 200,000 square foot multi-tenant data center, major companies such as Level 3, Verizon, and Cogent house their data processing operations, and make use of the extensive communications infrastructure of the building.

Located directly above the Howard Street tunnel, One Market Center sits atop one of the largest concentrations of fiber-optic network in the nation. These massive fiber runs connect the region from Ashburn, Virginia all the way north to New York City, and from there, across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe.

One Market Center is well-located within Baltimore. Just a few blocks from downtown and major financial firms that anchor the downtown business corridor, the data center is located at both Light Rail and Baltimore Subway stops, giving it access to all major forms of public transportation in the city.

Though the building has sizeable infrastructural assets, AiNET was not content to leave it as is. The company has invested substantial time and resources to upgrade those assets, investing heavily in improvements to power, cooling, and efficiency that both AiNET and its tenants can leverage. AiNET has built a substantial meet-me-room (MMR) where more than a dozen world-class telecommunications and internet carriers offer connectivity to clients within the building, as well as upgrading the buildings security posture through high definition cameras and other forms of security monitoring. In addition, AiNET has its own dedicated data center floor space, where it services end-users directly, providing managed services, internet connectivity, and data center colocation.

Fisher says, "As the kind of growth we have seen continues, we fully expect One Market Center to be recognized as the technology hub of the downtown business district for Baltimore. Downtown now has a world-class data center as its technology anchor point. We think that One Market Center can be transformational to the way that business and technology interact in Baltimore."
