Winners 'Hit the Ice with Doug Gilmour' in Mississauga

Family from Alberta wins the Edge® Shave Gel sponsored contest Attention: Assignment Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Photo Editor, Sports Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 14, 2005) - Today, Doug Gilmour hit the ice at Mississauga's Iceland skating rink with the winners of the 'Hit the Ice with Doug Gilmour' on-line contest, courtesy of Edge® Shave Gel. Lisa Bray, long-time hockey fan and winner of the Edge® sponsored contest, travelled from Medicine Hat, Alberta with husband Gary Bray, nephew Colton Hintz (12) and her best friend's son Cole Lee (13) to skate and enjoy time with the former Toronto Maple Leaf hero.

"I've met so many fans across the country, but it's been really great spending time today with Lisa, Gary, Colton and Cole," said Doug Gilmour. "They are true hockey lovers and it's been a pleasure for me to share with them some tips and stories from my own hockey career. Hopefully this will give them a bit of 'an edge' when playing hockey!"

The 'Hit the Ice with Doug Gilmour' on-line contest supported the launch of SC Johnson's reformulated line of shaving products - Edge® Advanced™ and Active Care® Advanced™ shave gel. The new shave gels contain unique ingredients to help protect your skin against cuts and irritation, allowing for a comfortable, refreshing shave.

"We wanted to create a buzz around the launch of the reformulated Edge® Advanced™ shave gels and what better way to do that than by offering Canadians the chance to skate with hockey legend Doug Gilmour," said Garry Scott, Senior Brand Manager, SC Johnson.

Over 33,000 Canadians entered the Edge® contest online at between November 22, 2004 and March 31, 2005.

"I am thrilled to have won the Edge® 'Hit the Ice with Doug Gilmour' contest," said Lisa Bray. "I entered this contest on the Edge® Shave Gel website, knowing that if I won, it would be a dream come true for my husband and for the boys. Watching them skate and interact with one of Canada's hockey legends was truly a fantastic experience." The contest winners count Gilmour among their favourite hockey players-a list that includes Joe Sakic, Tie Domi and Mats Sundin.

Not only did the grand prize winners of the 'Hit the Ice with Doug Gilmour' contest get the chance to skate with a Canadian hockey legend, but they also received four autographed jerseys and tickets to the Hockey Hall of Fame to learn about other hockey heroes. The grand prize (an approximate retail value of $10,000) also consisted of their round-trip airfares, hotel accommodations, four S.C. Johnson and Son Limited Gift Packs featuring Edge® products and $500 spending money. Ten secondary prizes of hockey sticks autographed by Doug Gilmour and ten tertiary prizes of S.C. Johnson and Son Limited Gift Packs featuring Edge® products were also awarded.
