Winners of the 2012 National Homeland Security Awards Announced


SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - May 24, 2012) - The National Urban Area Association in partnership with Emergency Management is honoring seven individuals and organizations for their outstanding performance in homeland security program management and practice.

Outstanding UASI Program Manager - Joe G. Javellana III, Port Security Grant Program Manager, Piti, Guam

Outstanding Practice/Program - Region III Health & Medical Taskforce

Outstanding Educational Program - Disaster Ready Austin

Outstanding Regional Partnership - King County Healthcare Coalition

Outstanding First Responder - John Gullo, Fire Chief, Disaster Coordinator, West Seneca, NY

Nominations from Urban Area Security Initiative, port security and transit security programs were accepted. The Board of Directors for the National Homeland Security Association also handed out two special honors:

President's Award for Outstanding Partner - Tim Manning, Deputy Administrator for Protection and National Preparedness, Federal Emergency Management Agency

Award of Honor - 2012 National Homeland Security Conference, Columbus, OH
