Winston Baker to Host International Film Finance Forum in Association With Variety at Cannes

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2010) -  Finance conference producer, Winston|Baker, will be hosting the International Film Finance Forum (IF3) in association with Variety on May 13, 2010 during the 63rd Annual Festival de Cannes.

Over the past year, Winston|Baker has hosted several finance events in the US to address the ever-growing investment opportunities within the film industry. At the recent Film Finance Forum held in Los Angeles, lenders represented at the event included Bank of America, Comerica, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, and Union Bank. Entertainment executives from Sony Pictures, Disney, Summit, FOX Searchlight, Hyde Park, Endgame, Grosvenor Park, Paramount Pictures, and Lionsgate were in attendance. Additionally, private equity companies such as ABRY Partners, Falcon Investment Advisors, and Vine Alternative Investments, along with film finance agents from WME Entertainment, ICM, and Paradigm participated.

"During IF3, our goal is to bring together a similar caliber of speaking faculty and delegates globally from the film and finance sectors and we believe that the Cannes Film Festival is the perfect occasion for such a forum," said Katherine Winston, Managing Partner, Winston|Baker.

The forum's seasoned speaking faculty will discuss new finance sources; risk mitigation strategies; worldwide tax incentives and tax credits; how capital structures are changing; distribution avenues in Europe and the U.S; plus provide an overall international outlook of the market.

"A vital element in attracting finance to film production and distribution is securing and then protecting the IPR necessary to ensure return on investment. The Motion Picture Association has been securing creative freedoms and respect for IP on behalf of filmmakers throughout its long history and is delighted to be associated with IF3," said Ted Shapiro, Deputy Managing Director, EMEA, Motion Picture Association and a sponsoring co-chair of the forum.

Gary Concoff, Chairman, Entertainment and Media, TroyGould, is a sponsoring co-chair as well. And supporting sponsors include Rothstein Kass, Aon/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services, Sonenshine Partners, and Magnet Media Group. For additional program and registration details:

Additionally, Variety will be featuring a special Film Finance Update in the May 10th issue of Weekly Variety.
