Wisconsin State BBQ Championship Will Sizzle Kenosha's Lakefront


KENOSHA, WI--(Marketwire - Aug 18, 2011) - The inaugural Grill Games Competition & Festival hosted by the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce, along with several sponsors, will sizzle on Saturday, August 27, 2011 from 10 am - 10 pm. Grill Games is an all-day event including a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition, music festival, family activity area and numerous food vendors.

The Kansas City Barbeque Society competition will comprise 30 teams grilling ribs, chicken, pork shoulder and beef brisket. The teams will compete for $6,200 in prize money. Following this BBQ competition will be a local celebrity grilling contest featuring four teams represented by politicians, educators, firefighters and police. The winning celebrity team will receive a $500 check for its favorite charity. All teams will receive a Weber Grill for charity as well.

The featured bands of the event include Twang Dragons, an original roots rock band, The Sweet Tarts, a high energy dance band, Joe Cantafio and the 101st Rock Division Band, a rock, hip-hop, country and blues band that has played for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Tim Castle and Young Southern, a high energy country band.

The family activity area will feature entertainment by Radio Disney, a hands-on workshop by Lowes, and a Milwaukee Wave appearance as well as other activities geared towards children and families. Popular BBQ food will be available for purchase including brats, pulled pork, beef brisket and roasted corn. Adult and soft drink beverages will also be available for purchase.

Event proceeds from Grill Games will benefit Kenosha County Youth Services including: youth charities and programs, child abuse prevention projects and scholarships for graduating high school seniors. Grill Games will take place on August 27, 2011 from 10am - 10pm at 56th Street and 1st Avenue in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Tickets are $10 each or two for $15 and are available for purchase at www.grillgames.org.
