WISH IT FORWARD: a 24 Hour Online Fundraiser for the BC & Yukon Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 10, 2010) - Kasu Funding, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of British Columbia and Yukon, Sociable, Blenz Coffee, Flight Centre, the MetroBlenz News Squad and Slo Pitch for Kids, are pleased to announce Wish it Forward, a groundbreaking 24-hour online fundraiser to be held on June 10, 2010, starting at 6am, to raise money for the BC & Yukon Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation®.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of British Columbia and Yukon has been granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions in order to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy in our community since 1983. Many lives are changed by the power of one wish…the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of British Columbia and Yukon understands that often parents and siblings of children suffering from life threatening illnesses need magical moments just as much as the wish child and therefore the entire family is part of the wish experience.

The goals of this fundraising campaign are three fold:

  1. To raise money for, and awareness of, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of British Columbia and Yukon, an organization that makes an incredible difference in our community. A vital component of the campaign is that every contribution counts, together we will be contributing as a community, and our community will make a wonderful difference in the lives of sick children;
  2. Raise awareness of how social media can be harnessed to create immensely positive impacts on local communities all over the globe; and,
  3. Create positive change in people's lives by working together as a community.

The message of the online campaign is simple: $20 and inviting a friend to do the same is all it takes to help bring a smile to a child with a life threatening illness. Join the Make-A-Wish Community by going to www.WishItForward.com on Thursday, June 10th, 2010....let's see how many smiles we can create.

"Kasu Funding is thrilled to be providing the portal for this groundbreaking 24 hour online fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of BC and Yukon," stated Anthony Caridi, President of Kasu Funding. "We believe our software provides the necessary tools for charities, non-profit organizations and grass roots fundraisers to take their fundraising to new levels and benefit our community as a whole."

Ross Hetherington, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish BC and Yukon, commented, "At Make-A-Wish, we are being asked to grant more wishes than ever, and now we need more people than ever to help us say 'yes' to these special kids. Wish It Forward is an exciting, new way to share the magic of a wish."

"Social Media provides the opportunity for communities to self organize and create positive change," commented Shane Gibson and Stephen Jagger, co-authors of Sociable! "We are excited to be involved with a company and a charity that is fully committed to equipping everyone with the tools needed to make this potential a reality."

We encourage the public to invite your friends, families, co-workers, Twitter followers and whoever else you can think of to participate in this unprecedented fundraising initiative. As a community we can make a difference in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses to help them feel joy again. As a community we can come together to support an organization that has been helping our community for over 27 years.
